Guests stay about seven nights on average and circle Skanderbeg Square, the Grand Park and the former Pyramid, with a longer trip out to Mount Dajti and its cable car just beyond the city. This list has 3 338 properties, from a hostel bed to five stars in the centre. Below is what really drives the price of a stay in Tirana: the month, how far ahead you book and the distance from Skanderbeg Square.
Tirana is cheapest in early spring. March is usually the bottom of the market, about 38 percent below the peak season, when double-room rates drop well below the summer level. June is the priciest, at the start of the tourist season, when prices can run more than double those of March. Autumn, September and October, is cheap too, when the heat eases and the crowds thin out. Summer is expensive and hot, with the city full of tourists and pavement cafes. The day of the week matters too, though in Tirana it is safer to aim for midweek than a weekend with a big event. For a regular trip, book roughly two and a half months ahead, as good rates in the centre disappear about 78 days before arrival.
Tirana is one of the cheaper capitals, but even here a hostel bed and a family apartment are quite far apart. The cheapest sleep is in hostels and rooms below two stars; you pay the most for five stars in the very centre. Below are indicative nightly rates for two people.
| Property type | Indicative price per night (from) |
|---|---|
| Hostel bed | from approx. EUR 25 |
| Room in a one or two-star place | from approx. EUR 40 |
| Three-star hotel | from approx. EUR 50 |
| Four-star hotel | from approx. EUR 65 |
| Family room or apartment | from approx. EUR 80 |
| Five-star hotel | from approx. EUR 110 |
Indicative rates for a double room, from summer dates, which is peak season. In Tirana the gap between a quiet March and the summer peak can be more than double, so check the real price for your dates in the search above.
Most people look for a room in the very centre, around Skanderbeg Square and the Blloku district, because from here you can walk to most of the sights, cafes and nightlife. Rooms in the heart of the city usually cost more, but put Skanderbeg Square, the Et'hem Bey Mosque and the Grand Park within a walk. Areas a little further from the centre, and places nearer the ring road and Tirana Rinas airport, work out cheaper. The actual price depends mainly on the standard and the date, so the easiest way to compare is the search above with your dates set.
From a cheap room in the centre to five stars by Skanderbeg Square, a few Tirana names with a from price. Just a starting point, as rates can climb noticeably in summer and in June.
| Property | Category | Price per night (from) |
|---|---|---|
| Venis Hotel | Budget hotel | from approx. EUR 60 |
| Hotel Livia | Three-star hotel | from approx. EUR 65 |
| StarLight Hotel | Hotel in the centre | from approx. EUR 70 |
| LORD Hotel | Four-star hotel | from approx. EUR 75 |
| mk hotel tirana | Hotel with a pool | from approx. EUR 105 |
| Lot Boutique Hotel | Boutique hotel | from approx. EUR 115 |
| Xheko Imperial Luxury Hotel & SPA | Premium hotel | from approx. EUR 175 |
From prices for a double room, from summer dates. In Tirana the same hotel can differ a lot between March and high summer, so check your exact dates in the search.
The priciest time is summer, with the season starting in June, when tourists fill the city and the cafes and parks buzz late into the night. Through the year the Tirana International Film Festival and a contemporary art festival draw guests from abroad and push up occupancy. The nicest time to visit is spring and autumn, when it is warm but without the summer heat, and prices are lower. The quietest and cheapest is early spring and winter, when the crowds thin out and the city returns to its everyday rhythm.
Early spring is cheapest, in March, when prices drop about 38 percent below the peak season. June is the priciest, at the start of the tourist season, when rates can be more than double those of March.
Three-star hotels in the centre start at roughly EUR 50 per night, and high summer can be dearer. From the centre you can walk to Skanderbeg Square, the National History Museum and the cafes of Blloku.
About two and a half months ahead is best. Good rates in the centre disappear roughly 78 days before the date, especially in summer and around the festivals that draw guests from abroad.
The very centre by Skanderbeg Square is the easiest base. From here it is a few minutes on foot to the Et'hem Bey Mosque, the Pyramid and the Bunk'Art museums, and close to the restaurants and bars of Blloku in the evening.
Family rooms and apartments start at roughly EUR 80 per night. The handiest base is near the Grand Park, where children have a playground, the park lake and paddle boats.
You reach Mount Dajti just outside the city by cable car, and its lower station by taxi or bus from the centre. It is a popular full-day trip with trails and a panorama of Tirana from the top.
